How to use Horseshoe Quarry

Horseshoe Quarry, aka Furness Quarry, lies in Middleton Dale, Derbyshire, just up the road from the village of Stoney Middleton. Being one of the few Peak sport climbing crags with many routes in the 6a-7a range and even a few below, it is inevitably a popular venue. With year-round climbing possible, it is popular with both beginners and experienced climbers.

In this short film, top sport climbing wad and BMC ambassador Steve McClure gives some useful advice on how to use Horseshoe. If you're venturing outdoors from the climbing wall, or if perhaps you have never climbed in a quarry before, there are a few things worth knowing before you set off on your first route at Horseshoe.

Horseshoe is one of a number of crags owned or part-owned by the BMC, and is currently (August 2017) undergoing a major re-bolting project
