Horseshoe Quarry rebolting update

Take a look at some of the strange old bolts and other hardware that was removed as part of the 2017 Horseshoe Heroes project to rebolt this popular Peak District sport climbing venue.

Horseshoe Quarry – the well-known BMC-owned sport climbing venue in the Peak District – received a makeover in 2017 as it underwent a rebolting project to make the quarry safer and accessible for all levels of climbers. To help fund the project, we started a Crowdfunder 'Horseshoe Heroes' to try and raise money from the climbing community.

The campaign was massively successful, with 508 supporters pledging a total of £16,205 to smash our £15,000 target. Rewards ranged from Horseshoe Hero t-shirts and bespoke sculptures made out of the old bolts and chains, to adopting your favourite route or going on a masterclass with climbing legend and BMC ambassador Steve McClure.
